If you'd like to circumvent Oklahoma City and all the traffic that comes with a big city, here's your path around it:

After Pops it's just over 5 miles to I-35. Follow it south, stick to the left toward Dallas and then take I-40 west toward Amarillo. Follow I-40 for about 17 miles to Exit 134 / Frisco Rd. turn right onto Frisco Rd. and left on Route 66 - voila, you're back on your favorite road!
